"At times the world may seem an unfriendly and sinister place, but believe that there is much more good in it than bad. All you have to do is look hard enough, and what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey."

So far in social studies we have been learning about geography. I'm not that great at geography but Mrs. Daley is a really good teacher and makes it fun. We have done one project where we have to make an imaginary continent. I based mine off of the T.V show Stranger Things. Even though I've only been in 7th grade for a few weeks, I'm really enjoying it :)

You can't always be comfortable standing next to person who hasn't showered in a while or doesn't have the best hygiene. You soon come to realize that they're just like me and you. When you look away because you don't want to stare they think you're just another person walking by. If you stop and help them, they most likely will feel more important to someone else. I have learned through this project that service address is the people themselves, not just what they ask for. What I learned about myself through this project is that I am privilledged and there are people with more disadvantages than I have. it really turned a switch in my mind that my probably my problems are probably 1/100th of someone else's problems. Patricia (Patti) Phay invited my sister and I into her house to make the bags of food. She had an assortment of cookies, chips, and juices. We filled them into Stater Brothers bags and put them in a wagon. We took the wagon outside and put the bags in a trailer. We hooked up the trailer to a truck and the next day we were off on our journey. I woke up at 5:30 am. My mom drove me to San Diego with my sister and Patti took another car. Patti's daughter,Katie, and her friends do this with her so they tagged along. We all arrived at San Diego and parked the cars. Then we unloaded all of the bags and started passing them out. We prayed for the people that wanted it and the ones that didn't. Not only did I pass out food to them, I learned about them. One lady got ran over by a car and now her legs are paralyzed. Her family abandoned her in a time where she needed them most. She learned to live with what she has and accept it. She doesn't complain, she just deals with it. It really makes me take all of my minor problems into consideration and how much I complain about them. Someone else's may be much greater than yours, but they don't complain. On January 29, 2017 we served 200 people in San Diego. We had previously prepared bags of food and snacks for these people. 200 people went to sleep on a full stomach. 200 people prayed for. 200 people got it knowledged by a stranger. 200 people were served, and it all started with one person. You can discover the unknown instead of hearing it. Because before you know it, they will all feel like friends to you. Here are some pictures of January 29th!!! I really hope you enjoyed learning about my experience with service work and I hope you do something good today!
. Part 1: investigate 1. My service project will attempt to feed 200 homeless people on the streets of San Diego. 2. Patrica Phay is a resident in Sun City, CA. She packs lunches for the homeless and passes them out. A food bank gives her supplies. She believes she is helping these homeless people by saying prayers for them and providing food to them. 3. Just in San Diego there is over 8,000 sheltered and unsheltered homeless people and was the 4th highest number of homeless people in the US. The San Diego Rescue Mission is an organization helping this issue by providing shelter and meals to the homeless. 4. Even though the city of San Diego has the largest concentration of homeless people in the county, the overall number is down 8 percent from 2015. Part B: Plan 1. My goal is to put a smile on at least one homeless person's face. I want to give them a meal so they don't go hungry for at least 1 night. 2. I have teamed up with Patricia Phay, Who does this every Sunday. A man who runs food banks will supply us with boxes of snacks, free of charge we will then put the snacks in plastic bags and load them into the trailer. We will then drive down to San Diego and pass them out. 3. My team and I will pass out Premade bags of snacks to the homeless in San Diego. We will drive down to the street to San Diego with bags in person. We will also ask if they would like us to give them a prayer. 4. I want the homeless people of San Diego to know that they can do something to make their lives better and that we are doing list to motivate them to do something good for themselves. 5. I will post pictures and things on my social media and weebly blog. I don't need to get any praise or thanks for what I did, but I want to post as more of a thing to inspire someone else to do the thing for their community. Monotheism: The belief in one god. I think this picture represents monotheism because these are three different religions that practice monotheism. Following Gods Laws: Having a certain lifestyle that follows what a holy text says you are allowed to do. Equality and Social Justice: Helping others who are not as privileged as yourself and treating people fairly. The Importance of Study: The importance of studying the holy text and making it a part of your life.
When he was three months old, Moses was hidden in a basket set afloat in the Nile to escape Pharaoh's decree that all male Hebrew children be drowned; he was retrieved from the river by Pharaoh's daughter who raised him in the palace. At age 20, Moses fled Egypt after killing an Egyptian he saw beating a Jew and made his way to Midian, where he married Zipporah, the daughter of Jethro, and fathered two sons, Gershom and Eliezer.
When he was 80 years old, Moses was shepherding his father-in-law's sheep when God revealed himself to him in a burning bush at Mount Horeb and instructed him to liberate the Children of Israel. Moses took the Israelites out of Egypt, performed numerous miracles for them received the Torah from God and taught it to the people, built the Mishkan in the desert, and led the Children of Israel for 40 years as they journeyed through the wilderness; but God did not allow him to bring them into the Holy Land. Moses passed away on his 120th birthday on Mount Nebo, within sight of the land he yearned to enter. https://www.smore.com/8s9dc
